Who We Are, What We Do

DHSI has provided testing to patients with snoring, sleep apnea and other intrinsic sleep disorders since 1990. 

Ours services include full polysomnography of 12-16 channels of physiologic information about the sleep patterns.  This includes respiratory monitoring for the most common of sleep disorders, sleep apnea.  Other common disorders include snore disorders, Narcolepsy and other disorders that disturb sleep.   Our dedicated staff   includes Registered Sleep Technologists, Sleep Technicians and Respiratory Therapists and Electroencephalographic Technicians to provide your physician with complete, and thorough test results to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep problem.  Physicians who are Board Certified Sleep Specialists are available to assist the referring physicians. 

DHSI has two independent sleep disorder testing facilities in Maine.  The principal office is in Falmouth, Maine is a 2 – bed lab that operates seven nights per week.  Our newest office is in Topsham, Me.   

DHSI offers contracted services in Maine and New Hampshire serving Mercy Hospital, Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Goodall Hospital and Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire.  

DHSI is a member of the American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA), American Polysomnography Technologists (APT), New England Electroenceplographic Technology Association (NESET), American Association Respiratory Care Practitioners (AARC), and Maine Society for Respiratory Care (AARC).  We are also partners with the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) to promote sleep disorder awareness and education and the Portland Chamber of Commerce

Richard HaslipRichard Haslip is the owner; CEO is a Registered Sleep Technologist and Registered Respiratory Therapist with over 30 years of clinical, critical care, and rehabilitation experience.  He first entered the sleep field at the request of physicians in 1986.  “This was the beginning time for recognition of sleep apnea as a real health threat” We were now able to have therapy available to treat sleep apnea.  The testing was very labor intense with equipment patched together, but it was a beginning.  Now all our equipment is computerized and digital to give very fast quality results.”
